If you remember the provisional I shared for this case a while back, consider this the next chapter. I’d like to show you how the treatment ultimately came together.
This case involves a splinted bridge from #7–10, with #7 and #10 as cement-retained implant abutments and #8 and #9 serving as pontics. #6 and #11 are just layering crowns.
The patient initially presented with a fractured six-unit anterior restoration, along with several esthetic and occlusal issues. All of these were corrected, and a new level of functional esthetics was achieved. Connective tissue grafting was also performed at the implant sites.
Because both lateral incisors were implant-supported, establishing ideal positioning and morphology for the laterals was particularly challenging. Even so, I feel the outcome was brought together beautifully.
This was a case completed between Los Angeles and Tokyo, and the high-quality communication across the ocean played a central role in achieving this result. Needless to say, the provisional restoration was the guiding key to the definitive restoration.

As the instructor for our recent Tokyo Photography Course, I did a live shooting demo, and I’d love to share the results with all of you.
These three models were absolutely amazing: beautiful, expressive, and incredibly easy to work with.

Their warm personalities made the whole session even more special.
Thank you for helping create such a memorable experience.
And if they had been wearing my veneers, the course would’ve felt even more realistic, hahaha😉🦷

Day 2 / Mission 4: Lecture - Dear Beauté -

To conclude, I had the honor of delivering a 45 minute lecture at the conference venue. The event took place in a fully reserved movie theater, which was a unique and memorable experience for me.
I was privileged to share the stage with three outstanding speakers, Dr. Nobu Kitahara, Dr. Toshinari Tohyama, and Dr. Taro Ogiwara and to serve as the closing speaker following their inspiring presentations.
In my lecture, I explored the concept of “beauty in dentistry”, specifically, how patients perceive and seek aesthetic outcomes after treatment. Using several reference cases, I discussed approaches to managing discolored abutment teeth in laminate veneer cases, as well as strategies for integrating veneers, crowns, discolored natural abutment and implants within a single esthetic treatment.
Finally, I presented the complete “Behind-the-scenes” process of how a case progresses, from the moment the impression arrives at the dental laboratory to its final completion, sharing with the audience the passion and dedication that go into every restoration we create.
It was an exciting and fulfilling 2 day experience, from the hands-on workshop to the conference lecture, spent together with many talented dentists, dental technicians, and dental hygienists in Japan.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the THREEE Study Group for inviting me, to Dr. Yudai Ogawa (President) @yudai__ogawa and Dr. Taito Watanabe (Congress Chair) @taito_w_dds_ph.d , and to all members who worked so hard to organize this remarkable event.
Special thanks also go to Ms. Eri, the dental hygienist @yoboushika who captured the photos shared here, and to Mr. YokoShinya, the dental technician @yoko_dt who created the short video featured at the end of this post.

During the photo-shooting session the previous day, I shared with everyone my complete workflow for developing and processing RAW photo data, allowing each participant to experience every step firsthand.
For those joining for the first time, some of the steps may have seemed a bit complex. However, I believe this session provided a valuable understanding and firsthand experience of how powerful a 16-bit image can be when developed from RAW photo data.

This session focused on the photographic documentation of definitive restorations following their intraoral delivery. I presented the techniques I routinely employ for capturing post-delivery follow-up photographs in the oral cavity, emphasizing the accurate representation of color, texture, and optical integration within the clinical environment.
Additionally, three professional models were invited to demonstrate post-treatment portrait photography methods. Participants were provided with hands-on opportunities to conduct their own photo sessions, allowing them to experience various lighting conditions and compositional approaches firsthand.
The course further included demonstrations comparing four distinct lighting setups, highlighting their respective effects on image quality and visual perception. Both advanced photographic systems and simplified equipment configurations were explored to illustrate a range of practical applications.
Overall, the session was highly intensive, content-rich, and provided an engaging academic experience that deepened participants’ understanding of clinical and esthetic dental photography.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the three beautiful models, Saori, Yuko, and Fusa, for their kind cooperation and contribution to this session.
